Wow! Visconti made this after he had a stroke and not long before he died. The thoughts of an old man facing death are not what you think they might be. After 'Journey to Italy' I found another great film for grown-ups.

Gloria 1980
Cassavetes preferred not to make commercial films but boy he could do it when he needed to. Gloria Rowlands is one tough cookie and the New York mob have rarely been so real and scary as they are in this movie. The storyline might be a little sentimental but the master makes it work.
