American Apocalypse 2021
For what is clearly a very low budget film, there’s enough talent and smart decisions on play to make it an enjoyable watch. Clearly inspired both visually and tonally by The Road. Some good atmosphere too during the montage scenes. Recommended watch for zero budget filmmakers.

THX 1138 1971
Visually timeless. Made 7 years before Star Wars and many precursor elements to that series are obvious in THX. The collage like editing of screens, minimalistic costumes and brutalist settings, dense foreground composition and some lower quadrant shots similar to Mr Robot all combine into a film that feels very ahead of its time. The car escape scene is the highlight of the film. That car just looks way too cool. Unfortunately the film is a bit of a slog and would be more appropriate playing on the wall as an art installation.
