Miyazaki viewing the old master as Isao Takahata, the dying architect behind the kingdom of dreams and madness, and himself as the parakeet king, someone who doesn't want the world to fall but has too much anger to guide it on his own is such a beautiful and reflective idea that only an old man could write. Let directors continue to work in their old age! Studio Ghibli was founded for the purpose of those two to make films, and their failure to find a successor is a shame but it will be okay when the studio shuts its doors.

The ending kinda drags, and some of the storylines are left undeveloped, but it's still very good. I think a lot of people's problems are up to how willing you are for things to be silly. Stuff like Riffalos performance is gonna get under people's skin but if your willing to have fun with it it's a good time.
