Bird 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Bird explores themes of identity, dysfunction, and resilience through the story of Bailey, a multiracial young girl navigating a chaotic family life filled with crises: her half-brother Hunter's vigilante conflicts, her abusive stepfather, her father's impulsive marriage plans, and her role as protector to her siblings and mediator in her brother's relationships. Beyond The Wall 2022
Another "Pure Misery" genre film from contemporary Iranian Cinema and of course Navid is there too. A shallow plot twisted by a non-linear narrative, awful sound design, and inconsistent rhythm. There are some ideas taken from SOUND of METAL (2020) and also The Father (2020) which makes the film kinda different from other "Pure Misery" Iranian movies.

The Brutalist 2024
This nearly four-hour film boasts an exceptional screenplay, stunning cinematography, and a captivating musical score. In terms of storytelling, it's arguably one of the finest of 2024. The influence of Polanski's Rosemary's Baby, The Pianist, and Tess is evident throughout. The long takes are striking and unrelenting, while the shots are as claustrophobic as the building itself. The color palette, as muted as concrete, adds to the atmosphere. And indeed, to fully convey the power dynamics and deliver that shocking moment, a film of this length is absolutely necessary.
