Avatar is officially no longer the worst film ever nominated for Best Picture. There has never been a more misguided, incomprehensible, and above all, incompetent film given that honor.
Say what you want about Avatar, but James Cameron is still a competent director who at least understands how to set the appropriate pace, tone, and style for the story he's trying to tell. This movie has no concept of any of the those basic filmmaking elements.
