Gripping film that I thought was going to be about the investigation into the death of the pope and turned into a political drama instead. As a Catholic, I love the nitty gritty of the politics of the church, and seeing the different divisions shape over the course of this movie was amazing. Ralph Fiennes was unbelievable and the homily he gave about mystery is stunning. Should be the best picture winner.
Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong are amazing at making me hate them. The way that Stan makes trump a human and how he was transformed into an idea is compelling to watch. Strong makes Cohn a sad figure that almost makes me pity him, which is difficult because Roy Cohn is satan incarnate. I feel nothing new about trump, but I feel like I understand just a little bit better, not that I want to understand.
Great watch, absolutely would watch again, but it’s a tough watch just because of the subject.
A very well told few years of a life. I liked how quickly things progressed, not dwelling too long on any one period, highlighting key moments and places that tied in with the story. Timmy was amazing, but was outshone by Norton and Barbaro. Elle Fanning’s performance was so relatable as well. Great movie, will watch again, music was amazing.
When many movies are made, they are made to be entertaining, convey a message to their audience, and make at least their cost back. When going into this movie, I had to remember when it was made, it wasn’t lauded and lifted to legendary status and intimidating to watch. It was just a movie.
