A beautifully poignant film by the late David Lynch. Great performances Freon Anthony Hopkins and John Hurt and the movie being in black and white was a good choice.
Great acting from everyone here and great pacing that helped the massive runtime. This movie feels epic thanks to its masterful direction, score, and sheer span of the story it tells. I’m very grateful to have seen this on the big screen.
John Carpenter redefined the horror genre with Halloween in 1978, but his 1982 film, The Thing, broke new ground with its practical effects and is likely my favorite horror film. This film is perfectly eery and claustrophobic. I mean, a group of guys stuck in an antarctic blizzard with a shapeshifting alien among them is, to me, just the perfect concept for a horror/thriller film.
