Paul King is one of my favourite directors working today… period.

Whilst not as neat and perfect as Paddington 2, King has delivered another prestigious piece to add to his filmography.

Why my admiration for this man?

Well I can confidently say that for me personally, no one creates films as heartfelt, and as warm… I feel like crawling into a blanket, having a warm hot chocolate, and I know I will be touched to tears by the commencement of end credits.

(And shoutout to Simon Farnaby - who as King’s co-author on these films - helps dream up these stories)

    Mark Rylance is the GOAT!

And Craig Roberts is going to be an amazing directing talent! I look forward to seeing where he goes next!

And what a lovely presentation of a father son relationship, one that I personally can relate too, just a really beautiful thing to see presented on screen!

I can’t express how much this sort of film means to me! Pixar has been on a role knocking through Inside Out, Coco and Soul to create a wonderful trilogy of sorts which deals with themes which are important: growing up, dealing with emotions, death, and realising what your purpose in life is.

I don’t even want to attempt to write a review! There’s plenty of others who do a much better job and I would just be repeating them.

I’ve been watching a lot of his filmography lately and my god, Richard Linklater just manages to get a chokehold on my emotions each time.

It’s like the man committed to a bet for over a decade and actually ended up making a beautiful thing that I want to keep coming back to as I grow older.
