Perhaps a bit weaker, but still as spectacular as its predecessor, this film functions as a revenge war epic.

Die Nibelungen: Siegfried 1924
This movie is so stunning it’s hard to believe it was made in the Weimar Republic. Gorgeous cinematography and brilliant sets bring this legend to life in the best way possible. I understand that it may require a bit of prior knowledge to fully understand the plot, but it is nothing short of a masterpiece.

Nosferatu the Vampyre 1979
The film’s writing leaves a little to be desired, but Klaus Kinski’s Dracula is excellent despite the fact that he’s being played by a terrible human being. The movie in general probably could have benefitted from being in German. Herzog uses shadows brilliantly, perhaps the best of any Nosferatu adaptation, and it’s clear he had a strong vision for what this movie could have been.
