Levinson's best work. Actually explores the subject matter without devolving into creepy, pandering fetishization like he usually does

Poor communication and petulance are not cute no matter what the soundtrack is doing, and South Korea isn’t a capitalist paradise (an oxymoron). The main characters are all sociopaths but also hot

I loved most of this. I genuinely couldn’t tell what path things would take towards the end, and there’re some very funny bits along the way. But I don’t like the ending!! It does make sense thematically but on a character level it felt contrived. Simone especially is done a disservice. And why was the box there?? After doing a wonderful job of building up characters with charms and flaws, the final scene strips all that and reduces them to symbols, which was immersion-breaking and a big letdown for me after getting invested.

Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack

There’s a bitter misanthropy to this movie. Many scenes involve the brutal deaths of irreverent, sinful youths who dare to seek a modicum of levity in their lives by indulging in the comforts of modern society, in the process trampling over the discarded bones of poor, forgotten gramps (who died in the war).
Also Baragon is my favorite kaiju ever and the design is beautiful. That fight scene was just too hard to watch >:(
The amazing score creates a good spooky atmosphere sometimes, but overall I had a pretty dour experience.
