No hard feelings doesn't really know what it wants to be. In one it's going for the R-rated comedy crowd, the next it's a shoegazy coming of age tale. Jennifer Lawrence puts in a good shift, proving herself an underrated comic actor, while also shining in the more touching moments of the film showing why she's earned the plaudits she has. Other than that it's an enjoyable enough watch, but the whiplash from the tonal shifts can be a bit jarring
Mark Anthony Green's debut is entertaining, but is frustratingly close to being great. Performances from Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich carry the film, which, while covering the well trodden ground of wide eyed innocent in a maybe cult like situation, there's a new spin on how it all unfolds. With a little more polish and maybe another draft of the script, this could have been brilliant, but as is, it's a decent and entertaining watch
The Monkey is bloody good fun! A tonal U-turn from Perkins' previous, Longlegs, this Stephen King adaptation leans in to the ridiculousness of its premise: A wind up toy monkey with the power to kill anyone it chooses. The kills are over the top, the gore is plentiful, and the laughs keep coming. A great dual performance from Theo James as twin brothers makes this one to watch!
A decent enough watch, with good performances and sound design. The story is good but could be fleshed out a little bit more, but it doesn't rely on jump scares to spook you out
