The runtime isn't justified in Gladiator, and it sure isn't justified here. Chop off a sequence or two and this thing goes up at least a half of a star.
More brutal than the original, and maybe equally as satisfying? The tone here is all over the place, and in true sequel fashion they try to connect every dot - but honestly, it sort of works.
