Priscilla 2023
This film was undoubtedly one of the best I have seen in a while. I loved everything about it, but most noticeably, the subtle change in aesthetics as Priscilla and Elvis’ relationship transformed. X 2022
X struck a balance between eerie and aesthetically pleasing; this movie was both a pleasure and a horror to watch. The quiet, rural setting, continued from Pearl, only adds to the unease, and is best watched after the first film. I did find the storyline less gripping than Pearl’s, most likely because it wasn’t focused as much on the central female character. However, Mia Goth’s performance was riveting, doubly impressive due to her role as two slashers - the victim subsuming to violence, and the perpetrator past her heyday.
