Profoundly boring and uninspired take on a modern musical. With a camera that can move anywhere and do anything Chu decides to film every scene in the most pedestrian way possible. Rarely do we get a shot of the choreography that actually directs your eye. The only one really having fun here appears to be Grande. Outside of her genuinely funny and sharp take on her character, the world around her feels as flat and dull as the color grade.
