The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas 2008
I first watched this film in 2017 after studying the book in High School and I really enjoyed it and found it very poignant. 7 years later however, I merely felt a sense of boredom and superficiality.

2001: A Space Odyssey 1968
There’s no denying this film is a masterpiece and you have to see it at least once in your life.
However, despite the films impressive special effects, its self-indulgent runtime and abstract themes may put off audiences who have never read the original novel and the long silences can come off as more humorous than actually building tension.
This film is worth watching once but I would argue it simply became outclassed by Star Wars 8 years later.

If I had a word for disappointment, that word would be Conclave.
How does a film with such an interesting premise and such spectacular and emotional acting fall so flat?
The reason is one word: superficial. Sure issues within the Catholic Church are brought up and sometimes (slightly) explored but there’s never really a satisfying payoff or investigation.
