I’ve never felt older than saying this, but this was just noisy and over-long. I will try to be positive and say that some of the meta stuff meant for the parents was kind of funny.

Surf II: The End of the Trilogy

    ★★

Watched for the upcoming HDTGM Seattle tour stop.
I can’t tell if this is made out of hated of surfers or younger in cheek admiration for surfing, but I absolutely loved this. It’s so stupid and makes absolutely no sense but it’s so hilarious.
The cops and the parents are absolutely wild. The dual kitchen scenes alone are worth watching this movie. They are so unnecessary yet perfect.
Highly recommend if the absence of plot and character motivation doesn't bother you.

This is the epitome of narcissistic filmmaking. I don’t know what the film is about. If the story is about mental illness, they did a poor job of expressing that. If it’s about what it is to create art, it’s incomprehensible.
The penultimate scene shines a light on the thesis, I think. I really liked Molly Parker’s performance in that scene, but that was the only bright spot. On the whole it is just not a film I could recommend.

Continuity stuff that didn’t make sense to me, but I’m not sure if it’s because Denis Villeneuve had to fit so much into Part 2. I love the cast. You got MJ, Thanos/Cable, Yelena, Drax, Selvig, Mr. Blue.

There were parts that felt extra long, but the AC may not have been on in the theatre and it made me irritable. Been a while since I’ve seen something in a sold out theater.

The scale of this film compared to the first is wild. I look forward to watching again soon.
