It's a slow burn towards the climax, but a strong build up nonetheless, largely due to some powerful performances from Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain. While film buffs may be familiar with both these names, it's only a matter of time before these two truly achieve mainstream recognition, as this movie is just another film in their respective repertoires that showcase the talent they have to offer.
Although it's hindered slightly by some less than stellar fight sequences which have unfortunately aged poorly over the last decade, A History of Violence showcases an interesting story about morality and what constitutes a hero, mainly bolstered by the strong performance of the incredibly reliable Viggo Mortensen.
