I love sleazy, drippy, oozy, nasty movies.

Anita Bryant is dead, fuck her. The RiffTrax folks compared her to a brain dead box turtle, that was too kind. Her involvement aside, this short had some seriously brain melting sequences and might be worth a watch for those.

Oh man, will this flick ever eventually find its audience. Mix Tetsuo, Hardware, The Net, Lawnmower Man, Maximum Overdrive, and American Pie up in a blender and you get this odd duck. It’s big, it’s dumb, and raunchy. I fucking loved it!

    Narcotic

    ★★

There are some moments in Narcotic that work really well. There’s a car chase scene where it looks like some folks might have legitimately been hurt. There’s also some old C section footage that’s insane.

A doctor with a very, very not Asian Chinese friend gets addicted to drugs and falls down a rabbit hole of snake oil depravity. Then we get to see the rare as a unicorn “dope party”.

This is classic exploitation in every sense. Made as an “educational” film so the filmmakers could do some things they otherwise wouldn’t get away with. Enjoy it, we’re lucky it’s managed to survive.

    Mortal Kombat

    ★★★

I’m not sure exactly what I expected, but I feel like I still got exactly what I expected. Does that make sense? No. Well, that’s all I can say.

The story is overly convoluted. The characters manage to be kind of one dimensional even with the almost 2 hour run time. These aren’t bad things necessarily, because the fight sequences are AMAZING. The fights save the movie.

I say go watch it and form your own opinion. As someone who has religiously played Mortal Kombat, this was fun and felt right.
