  I know this was a plot centered around character development and human relationships between characters, but everything was so cliche. 

  I liked more the in your face, to the point of Shin Godzilla. And somehow I thought the laser beam scene was done better in Shin Godzilla. How did the vfx feel lesser in quality than a movie 6 years older?
