This film, although a tough one to stomach down, was a phenomenal historical masterpiece. Based on a Memoir by Wladyslaw (Waldek) Spilman, this film I feel did a great justice. It's groundedness & overall raw feel displayed this musician's story in a whole new light. I usually don't like reviewing historical media but this just had so many great elements to it. This film reminded me a lot of Tampopo & how it's storytelling told stories from different individuals in the film. The shot composition first of allis beautiful & completely took me. It was artistic & tastefully done. I also appreciate the use of music in this film as it drives the narrative. The characters were amazing & grabbed your heart, especially Faye. The story itself was simple & an interesting depiction of love & infatuation. However, I would've liked more insight on He Zhiwu & his story…
