The best worst film or the worst best film ever?
Three days on and I've still no idea what to make of this. Undeniably flawed, certainly too bombastic for many, but the singular work of an old master auteur, filled with mesmeric imagery. Fizzles out a little at the end, as do all empires. The number of fourth-wall parallels that can be drawn here makes me think 'Metalopolis' might be a more apt title.
