Asteroid City 2023
If I was being objective, I’d say this is a 4–star film and a mid-tier Wes jaunt (on first viewing) because I am not the target audience. I’d say that the big emotional climax totally whiffed for me, and that I wish it had dove into the despair of life more head first (ala The Banshees of Innesherin).
But I won’t be objective, because my nieces are in this movie, and I love them and am very proud of them.
So, yeah, I’m thinkin’ 5 stars.

It has most of the necessary building blocks of excellence (acting, production design, cinematography), but it’s painfully lacking in narrative. That might work for some, but it doesn’t work for me. But again, it’s well crafted.
Maybe I just don’t get it, but maybe there’s nothing to get.
