Emilia Pérez 2024
This movie was…a lot…of very little. It wasn’t the absolute “dog shit” the internet made it out to be but some things really lacked sense. And the move as a whole is rather bizzare, it was like an amalgamation of “franken-stories” very confusing. All this to say that i really do understand the grounds this movie stands on regarding trans rights and visibility. But idk.
Was Zoe good enough for the oscar? I guess i do see the vision.

this review is an extremely subjective one. This movie is truly EVERYTHING that i like, it’s fucked beyond belief, gory, scary, uncomfortable, with a deeper meaning. In a very bad year for movies (2024) this was a shining beacon of hope for me, that good movies still come out.
All of this goes to say that this movie is certainly not everyones cup of tea! Some may even feel violated by the visuals, but i think that’s “rawness” of those visuals is what makes it so good!
Definitely planning a rewatch.

The movie was a visual masterpiece! The symbolism is profound especially the beginning freedom symbols and how the characters relationship with it changed throughout the movie. My jaw absolutely hit the floor at the rape scene, because it depicts how capitalism, capitalist interests or money rapes art, or the artist in this case. And how this is a depiction of America and its society.
I absolutely recommend this watch!
