To Live and Die in L.A. 1985
I watched this over the course of a couple days on my iPad as I did laundry and dishes so I don’t think I got the full experience. Definitely is rewatchable. The violence is intense.
Interesting decision to kill the protagonist in the first scene (the suicide bomber attempting to kill Reagan).
Some of the dumbest cops ever depicted on film lol. I liked the part when he was drinking the Miller High Life that was already foaming over when the scene began.

Looks beautiful. Tense music. Conspiracy thriller driven by terrific performances by some of the best going.
I just can’t get over the ham fisted political allegory. There’s no subtext. I think I still would have got it if they went the subtle route instead. And I just don’t think the ending had anything to do with the rest.
Edit: ok the book this is based on was written in 2016 that makes sense.
