  To have two of my favorite actors, Ali and McConaughey, starring in a film about my grandfather’s home county in Mississippi is such a beautiful stroke of serendipity. I am so grateful that this film exists and that unsung chapters of Southern resistance are finally being told. Some scenes on Civil War violence are pretty graphic, but this is a watch worth anyone’s time.

  This would be 5 stars if it weren’t for the infantilizing portrayal of neurodivergence. Chalking that up to this film being a product of its time. The rest of the film is excellent.

  Good acting, but was incredibly bored by the characters and the plot. Would’ve expected far more with this many a-listers in one film. Starting to think I just don’t like Wes Anderson films.
