  Perhaps I’m more disappointed than disagreeable about this film. It has good acting from an excellent cast and bold choices from a courageous director. But that’s actually my complaint. Promising Young Woman took a story we’ve seen and emboldened the characters with power, using shock to wake the audience up to the depravity of men turning women into conquests.

  Somehow changing up the cast and complicating the narrative kept this tired series from dying and gave it a punch of life. Not great, but better!
