The Gorge may be the first movie I’ve seen that gets the tonal shift so wrong. A cute romance story with a sci-fi twist descends into an on-rails shooter.
I’m not mad about the change in tone, and I actually really enjoyed the first steps down into the hell bellow. There’s something almost Burton-esque about the world we enter. Constantly fun, to the point where I was wondering if I should be smiling and chuckling so much. After all, isn’t this a scarily accurate reflection of our current reality. But then the movie would make me chuckle or smile again and the cycle would continue. Don’t think I’ve ever had this much fun watching a film and then felt slightly guilty for doing so.

Triangle of Sadness 2022
Was laughing so hard at times that I was crying. The scenes with the Russian and The Captain have got to be the most I’ve laughed at a movie ever.
They managed to get the balance perfectly of making you hate these eccentric billionaires enough to prey on their downfall but love watching them enough that you want them to survive so that you can keep laughing at them.
