Super strong movie. Wasn’t blown away by the acting, or the cinematography (why all the bloom?), but the sequences themselves rocked. The dinner scenes and the polyglot were enthralling. Really entertaining, really well done.
Soderbergh has swung me from total disbeliever in his new stuff (Presence) into total believer (Black Bag) in, like, two months.
Malkovich and Edebiri are just wonderful, but besides that it’s pretty unremarkable. Well, maybe I actually kinda dig the music?
My rating for the movie is probably a little higher than it deserves, but I think this genre of work has a sweet spot for me. Or maybe I just love John Malkovich.
Inglorious Basterds meets Ocean's Eleven, but doesn’t come close to the heights of either.
