  While I enjoyed the first movie of this franchise, I don’t know how they can really be more than just jump scares and punished clumsiness.

  Mescal in a swords-and-sandals movie, while an entertaining thought to consider, still feels very new to me. While he’s a phenomenal actor, I’m not entirely sure he was the right casting for this role.  2000s Russell Crowe is just too damn hard to top.
