Watched this film yesterday, still thinking about it. It has an ethereal atmosphere though the theme is heavy. It portrays emotionally fragile people caught in abusive relationships. A sensitive woman conditioned/programmed by education/religious believes to think she deserves punishment, and incapable to rebel against it. Initially I had some difficulties adjusting to the terrible, clumsy looking CGI effects, they had this retrograde vibe about them which was a bit annoying, off-putting.
