    Watched this film yesterday, still thinking about it. It has an ethereal atmosphere though the theme is heavy. It portrays emotionally fragile people caught in abusive relationships. A sensitive woman conditioned/programmed by education/religious believes to think she deserves punishment, and incapable to rebel against it. A woman absorbing violence as a way of redemption for “not being good”. It is actually terrifying, to think you deserve the beating, and to associate it with being loved, being bettered.
