What a fantastic movie. A great example of how the three acts, three stories technique can be used to create a cohesive narrative. The time jumps were not jarring in the slightest. Almost all the characters were likable, and sans the pair of confederates, there really are no "villains" in this movie. Hilariously funny at times, deathly serious at others. Also blends in references very well. Even the acting was great. Top watch, would recommend to anyone.

This movie is about what I expected it to be. An interesting story with cool character + set designs and very deep symbolism at play. The magical realism in this film stands out, and the ending definitely strikes an emotional chord. Del Toro is a great director, and his unique artistic voice shines through here. A very solid watch indeed.

Fun movie, the rat's accent definitely boosts my score a little bit.

This movie very much missed the mark for me. It feels like it was supposed to be a movie that uses aspects of horror to tell its true story, but instead it came off as a horror movie with slight deviations of normalcy. I understand that it plays with the concepts of exploitative workplace relationships and toxic masculinity, but quite frankly these ideas felt like they got pushed to the side a lot of the time. I would have liked to see them explored more instead of falling to the wayside by way of an unexplained, unmotivated psychopath story.
