  Gladiator 2 is like the original Gladiator if it was remade by the CW. Fun time and a great looking movie up on the screen, but why characters do what they do and how their motivations change from one scene to the next is iffy. Late career Sir Ridley doesn’t work for me (was his last good movie really The Martian… a decade ago). I wish this movie wasn't a direct sequel and was more like Twisters, where the vibes…

  The Brutalist 2024

  Pre intermission is basically a 5, post is more like a 3.5 or so. The tighter focus of the first act worked more for me, the narrative progression felt more natural compared to the “this happened then this happened” style of act two. Adrien Brody is excellent and so is Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn can’t act. Incredibly well made and well acted overall.
