  Coppola made his dream project risking his own money, and for that alone I want to respect him

  This movie is not as absurd as most people say. It has a completely understandable plot. Yes, the setting is grotesque and surreal. But the artistic direction of the film is beautiful and the actors are good.
  The main disadvantages are the film's length and sometimes big jumps in the plot.

  A great movie, on par with Goodfellas.
  They have a lot of overlap in how everything is filmed and felt.
  Scorsese finally has found his own style in films based on real stories. Sharon Stone's Oscar is well-deserved here.
