Having heard some songs from this musical and having seen some positive reviews of this film, I wanted to see it for myself. I didn't expect this story to be such a downer, really felt more like a Shakespearean tragedy sometimes than anything else (especially the ending). Had more gruesome visuals than I had expected, which really elevated the viewing experience for me. The singing was exceptional and I particularly enjoyed Johnny Depp's performance (both for his acting and his singing).
