  Here’s the thing about Wicked. I’m not sure if this is a ‘hot take’ or not, but I think it looks mostly good. The CG is mostly good to me. I appreciate the fact that, as DP Alice Brooks informed the audience before the screening, they built most of this stuff and tried to do it “the old way… the right way.” That’s not for nothing and a lot of this movie really works for me.

  It's hot out and sticky with humidity. The kind of heat that only comes around in early August, when summer is nearly over and the school year is threatening to begin again. Every decision carries with it the weight of the world - one wrong move, and everything explodes. Friends become enemies with the wrong emoji. Older kids are cool until they aren't. Girls are awesome, and then horrible, and then awesome again, and then horrible again, in a never-ending…
