this is an odd one. you definitely have to be familiar with the character, or lack of, in the context of shakespeares’s original play. but this was absolutely stunning visually and i adore the concept of a female director giving this faceless, voiceless character an identity by casting a local woman in the role for her production. it almost implies that all women in this community (and possibly, in the world) are sycorax in some way…

harley quinn is my hero. it’s my favorite god damn movie and no one can convince me that’s it’s not a five star film. i’m so fucking tired of gritty, dark, “realistic” superhero movies where everyone dies and i’m left hollow and sad. i love this type of funny, colorful movie where the heroes are a little messy and not 100% sure what the hell they’re doing or how to do it.
