This may have been the first Luca Guadagnino film I’ve liked, and I think it’s because of its willingness to portray a relationship without rose colored glasses. I found Lee and Allerton’s dynamic fascinating and frustrating and exciting. The poignancy of Lee’s constant bid for affection despite his own self pity and obvious addiction… there was a moment before the Ayahuasca where it really felt like Allerton was invested.
