  This has all of the components to be a Maxwell classic, but loses me a bit in the final 40. Gets just a touch cartoonish and makes the intensity of Schrader’s trademark outburst ending feel a little less Taxi Driver and a little more Commando,

  Emily and I accidentally found ourselves at the “global premier” of this movie at 3:38 (exactly) on a Thursday. We were the only non-Indian people in a huge sold out XD theater.

  The guy next to me had taken off of work to see it, and apparently it was premiering at the exact same minute in India. He checked with me several times to make sure I was liking it and understood the plot, and when we talked at intermission…

  Had a good time watching this with friends, and thought it mostly got better as it went on.

  Plenty of fun sets and costumes that feel very Burtonian, which I always like. Some of the jokes in here really land, and I felt like I got my money’s worth of laughs for sure.
