this is one of the rare times i wish a movie had been longer. there was so much intrigue—concerning the struggle with prayer, tucci’s own crisis, the previous pope’s distrust with everyone—that i think deserved a more thoughtful consideration.
to me, ralph fiennes and stanley tucci made this movie. their performances on the struggle with faith made me surprisingly emotional (especially in the first half, when i still felt the movie was taking itself seriously) but without them the movie was simply too unrealistic and ridiculous.
overall i enjoyed watching the entirety of the movie, except maybe the ending, which i felt was a stretch.Translated from by
