I didn’t realize this was a period piece until 20 min into the movie, then TI appeared as Common’s son (they’re 6 years apart in age btw) and we got a closeup of Rza’s Wu-Tang tattoo. The winks to the audience turned to winks, nods and nudges which got a little annoying. I tend to avoid movies with star-studded casts because they’re usually pretty bad but this one was decently mid. Denzel is incredible as usual. Crowe’s dad bod is great. Brolin is basically Thanos with a badge. Idris Elba loses sex appeal with an American accent. Chiwetel is booked and busy, good for him.
