  deeply upset me in a way a movie hasn't in a while. i tend to not like films where "ugly old woman" is the horror (see: X, Barbarian), but here that's rather the point. if the worst thing a woman can be is old and ugly, it's not hard to understand why we chop parts of ourselves off just to look(be!) prettier and younger again. and again. and again. it's all a big metaphor ofc: you cant keep dividing yourself.…
