A bleak tale of vengeance. With very little said, the story manages to delve into themes of jealousy, innocence, and penance. Beautifully shot and acted. Amazing final scene.
First Wim Wenders film I’ve seen. Strange shifts between scenes and some really moody imagery gave the movie an almost dreamlike flow. I think this is one that will stick with me for a long while, and I’m looking forward to seeing some more of WW’s work. Also, Dennis Hopper is totally unhinged as Tom Ripley.
Interesting visuals and (some) good acting, but the dialogue was just a bunch of “deep if you’re a kid who just learned about philosophy” platitudes thrown past each others’ characters. Much of the story didn’t make any sense. No real humanity to the narrative at all, just a whole lot of idealistic utopian fluff. Embarrassingly bad.
