Someone told me they saw this movie last month and midway through a guy stood up and shouted “this is the worst movie of all time" before storming out of the theater. After watching it myself, I wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment.

The Town That Dreaded Sundown 1976
Found out about this because it’s mentioned in the original Scream movie. It’s an oddity that (often ineptly) alternates between horror and slapstick comedy. It still kind of works though, and I can see why this is regarded as an early classic of the genre. The narration in particular is a unique touch that is rather well done and sets this movie apart from its contemporaries.

What the hell was Paul Thomas Anderson thinking? This is one of the worst movies of all time. By the 20 minute mark it’s already a trainwreck that makes you want to walk out of the theater or turn off your TV. It does nothing thematically that The Big Lebowski didn’t do 16 years earlier. And Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Nice Guys, and even Licorice Pizza do a far better job of capturing the place and time.…
