Kiki's Delivery Service 1989
One of Miyazaki’s masterpieces. Though maybe not as memorable or eventful as some of his other works, this movie stands on its own; a story about growing up, going to new places, meeting new people. I love this film, the colors, the soundtrack, the iconography, everything comes together in one of the most ‘summer’ movies ever made.
Miyazaki’s films often end abruptly but the ending of this is one of my favorites; the quietness as he plummets, the erupting soundtrack along with the visual noise of everyone cheering and the confetti coming down… truly an all-timer.
