  i liked the movie mickey 17, but i loved mickey 17 himself. god-tier himbo performance! i wasn’t always sure about the plot, but it was a very fun watch - and i was grinning everytime the two mickeys were on together.

  all about eve suffers significantly in comparison to sunset boulevard, which i just watched and loved. cannot believe it won out for best picture of 1950, i guess the academy has never really had their act together. joseph mankiewicz has nothing on billy wilder, and i remain sort of unconvinced about his ability to write dialogue and very unconvinced about his ability to write a non-corny ending. bette davis was excellent though! kim carnes was onto something…

  unsubtle (in the best way) and skewering, but also just really, really gorgeous! there were so many shots that i loved. #1 spot probably goes to norma bathed in the light of the projector. also a delightful buster keaton cameo! crazy to hear that guy talk, feels wrong! 

  adding to the list of all-time new year’s movies, along with phantom thread and the apartment.
