hey, I think the ruffalo character reminds me of someone. Ya know, the vainglory megalomaniac with supporters who wear red hats? The guy with the creepy, death-cult religion behind him? He who comedically tries to connect with workers despite his own tone-deaf displays of opulence?
I mean, there’s a guy in real life that sounds like this character, but he only lost one election. They make it a pretty big point in the movie that the Ruffalo guy lost two elections, so it can’t be him. Idk.
10 minutes in, I thought I was in for the most flaccid film experience of my life. Then Nick Nolte showed up. His RFK-esque rasp, his guttural groans, and light chuckles immediately breathed life into this film. He delivers so many great one liners ( exhibit a)“Everytime I hear ‘bunkhouse’ my testicles shrivel up into my body.” b)I don’t get bogged down in the minutia. Im above the details. the mid-film credits repeat was brilliant. it was a way to let the audience know that the real film you sick fucks came to see is just starting.
