  2024: Anora Mikheeva v. Count Orlok v. Laszlo Toth 

  A searing indictment of WASP culture and the falsity of the American dream that was sold to post-war refugees in order to extort them. 

  Everything about this movie is amazing, but Blumberg’s score will stay with me for a while. Alternating between stunning piano movements and anxiety inducing caustic noise it lands somewhere between Amilie and a horror movie. Random synth arpeggios, string stabs, and percussion mirror the narrative tensions. Mirrors the simplicity of the protagonists work in many points. Amazing.

  Timmy was amazing, Barbaro as Baez is even better. 

  This genre of music biopic needs to be as condemned as “product” movies have become. There is little focus given to showing the personality of anyone outside Dylan and Seeger, they just feel like set dressing. There is barely even a story throughout most of this, it feels like you’re sitting in karaoke. The direction is lifeless and dull. The script is bad in many points, with someone literally telling Dylan…
