This movie has two parts to me, the first half which perfectly encapsulates what it’s like to have a crush as a teenager (also noting that Elio is 17 and Oliver is 23 and concerns there). The all-consuming obsession that takes over everything else. The intense highs and lows and over-analysis of every interaction. Wow wow wow, very nice adaptation of the 1968 play and 1970 film (although I’ve never seen the 1968 play obviously lol) Tough watch, but raises many good questions and points about how far society’s come in accepting queer communities and how far society still has to go. Great cast and really great set design too, felt transported to 1968 New York City.
