Whoever did the sound on all those creaky doors deserves a raise. One of the best horror movies I’ve seen in a while.

The Sisters Brothers 2018
Takes off slow but really gains momentum throughout with a script that eventually shows you that it knows what it’s doing. As most others have noted, it’s the performances by Juaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly that really hold this whole thing together. I specifically would like to see Reilly do more leading roles like this.

Put aside your expectations for a “big twist” and this final addition to the trilogy works well enough. There’s a little too much focus on the comic book story parallels, but the performances are strong enough to keep you interested in the three main characters and their eventual fates. Maybe the appreciation for this film will be a slow-grower like that of Unbreakable?
