Imagine a talented writer who writes a late career novel that’s a dud. Ira Levin’s Sliver was intended as a commentary on how the loss of privacy creates interesting moral dilemmas. The book itself turned out to be a bit of a snooze, even with adding sex and murder in the equation, the book’s awkward style and jumps in narrative don’t work.
Now imagine being a semi-retired producer reading this novel and thinking you have a movie on your hands…
